We’re blessed to hold Art of Community in beautiful Sonoma County, CA

for many reasons, not least of which includes the support of
communitarians such as the folks at Monan’s Rill.

In 1974 Monan’s Rill grew out of conversations between friends and acquaintances who were searching for a greater sense of community amongst themselves, as well as a physical place for this community to take root and grow. They have a long history of building community with each other while being of service to the world.

Intentional Communities arise from and for a variety of reasons, but the common threads involve people connecting in a place, and with a shared purpose. Monan’s Rill’s Intention as stated on their website:

“Most of us have come of age in a society that emphasizes competition, materialism and self-enhancement. We feel that this has encouraged isolation and alienation. We see cooperation and a spirit of mutual support as highly desirable alternatives.

We try to recognize and cherish the different skills and insights of each individual. We are committed to helping and encouraging one another. We believe that successful community requires an intentional commitment. We have all committed ourselves to one another as a chosen family, and get together in both formal and informal gatherings.

As a group, we have concerns about the social chaos around us. Each of us tries to reach out from our relative security to do what we can.We do not claim to have the solutions to the world’s problems or even our own. We believe we are taking steps in the right direction, and know that good things are happening here.”

Art of Community and the FIC would like to thank Monan’s Rill for their long standing commitment to living in community with intention.
We’re thrilled to have them participate in our unique gathering.

Folks from Monan’s Rill will be facilitating two workshops at AoC this year:
